Using Reactions

Reactions let you quickly respond to a story with a simple tap or click. They’re a fun and easy way to show appreciation, support, or amusement without writing a full comment. Each story displays the total number of reactions it has received.

Available Reactions

You can choose from three reaction types:

  • 👍 Like — Show appreciation for the story.
  • 😂 Laugh — Use when a story is funny or brings a smile.
  • ❤️ Love — Use for meaningful, touching, or heartfelt stories.

How to React to a Story

  1. Open any story in the Stories & Memories section.
  2. Find the reaction buttons below the story title or content.
  3. Click the reaction you want to give:
    • Your reaction will highlight to show it’s active.
    • The reaction count will increase immediately.

Removing or Changing Your Reaction

You can change your mind at any time:

  • Click the same reaction again to remove it.
  • Click a different reaction to switch to that one.

The system automatically updates your reaction and adjusts the counts.

How Reactions Are Tracked

  • Logged‑in users have their reactions tied to their account.
  • Visitors who are not logged in can still react — their reactions are tied to a temporary browser identifier.
  • Each user or visitor can have only one active reaction per story.

Why Reactions Matter

Reactions help stories feel alive. They let family members engage with each other’s memories in a quick, meaningful way. Whether it’s a laugh, a smile, or a heartfelt moment, reactions help show that a story resonated with someone.
