Site Settings

The Site Settings page allows administrators to configure global options that affect the entire website. These settings control themes, email behavior, privacy defaults, calendar options, and other system‑wide preferences.

Only users with Admin permissions can access and modify Site Settings.

What You Can Configure

Site Settings are grouped into several categories:

  • Theme Settings — Choose the active site theme.
  • Email Settings — Configure the site’s email domain and base URL.
  • Directory Settings — Control privacy defaults for the Family Directory.
  • Calendar Settings — Set default calendar behaviors.
  • General Settings — Miscellaneous global options.

Theme Settings

This section allows you to select the active theme for the entire site:

  • Choose from preset themes
  • Select a custom theme you created in the Theme Builder
  • Apply shared themes created by other users

Changes take effect immediately for all users.

Email Settings

These settings control how the site generates links and sends email notifications:

  • Site Domain — The domain used in outgoing emails.
  • Base URL — The root URL used for links in emails.

These values ensure that password resets, verification links, and notifications point to the correct location.

Directory Settings

Directory settings control how personal information is displayed by default:

  • Birthdate Visibility — Default privacy for new profiles.
  • Show Birthdays on Calendar — Whether birthdays appear automatically.
  • Default Relationship Options — Controls how relationships are labeled.

Calendar Settings

These settings define how the Family Calendar behaves:

  • Default View — Month, week, or list view.
  • Show Past Events — Whether older events remain visible.
  • Default Recurrence Options — Controls which recurrence types are available.

General Settings

This section includes additional site‑wide options such as:

  • Site title or header text
  • Welcome message for new users
  • Maintenance mode (if supported)

Saving Changes

After adjusting settings:

  1. Review your changes.
  2. Click Save Settings.
  3. A confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the page.

All changes apply immediately.

Tips for Managing Site Settings

  • Review settings periodically to ensure they match current needs.
  • Use the Theme Builder to create a polished, consistent look.
  • Keep email settings accurate to avoid broken links.
  • Use directory and calendar defaults to maintain privacy and consistency.
