Family Directory Overview
The Family Directory is the central place to view and manage information about family members. It helps everyone stay connected by providing names, relationships, photos, and optional contact details in one easy-to-browse list.
What You Can Do in the Directory
- Browse all family members
- Search by name, relationship, city, or state
- View detailed profiles
- Add new people to the directory
- Edit or update existing profiles (admins only)
- Upload profile photos
Searching the Directory
You can quickly find someone using the search bar at the top of the page. You can search by:
- Name — First or last name
- Relationship — Such as “Cousin,” “Aunt,” or “Sibling”
- City or State
Search results update instantly to help you find the right person quickly.
Viewing a Person’s Profile
Click any person in the directory to open their profile. A profile may include:
- Full name
- Relationship to you
- Birthdate (based on privacy settings)
- Contact information (optional)
- Profile photos
Adding Someone to the Directory
To add a new person, click the Add Person button. You can enter their name, relationship, birthdate, and optional contact details. You can also upload a profile photo after saving.
Editing a Person
Admins can update any profile by clicking the Edit button on the person’s page. This allows you to change names, relationships, birthdates, privacy settings, and contact information.
Birthdate Privacy
Birthdates are sensitive information, so each profile includes privacy controls. You can choose whether to:
- Show the full birthdate
- Show only the month and day
- Hide the birthdate entirely
- Show or hide the birthday on the Family Calendar
Birthdate privacy settings apply to both the Directory and the Family Calendar.
Profile Photos
You can upload one or more photos to a person’s profile. Photos help family members recognize each other and make the directory more personal.
Tips for Using the Directory
- Use the search filters to quickly find people.
- Add profile photos to help others recognize family members.
- Keep information up to date for accuracy.
- Use privacy settings to control what others can see.
