Managing User Accounts

The Manage Users page allows administrators to view, filter, and manage all user accounts on the site. This includes updating account statuses, locking or unlocking accounts, and resetting passwords when needed.

Only users with Admin permissions can access the Manage Users page.

What You Can Do on This Page

  • View all registered users
  • Filter by account status
  • Search by name or email
  • Reset a user’s password
  • Lock or unlock accounts
  • View user roles and creation dates

User Statuses

Each user has a status that indicates their current access level:

  • Active — The user can log in normally.
  • Requested — The user has created an account but is waiting for approval.
  • Pending Password — The user must set a new password before logging in.
  • Denied — The user’s access request was denied.
  • Locked — The account is temporarily disabled by an admin.

Filtering Users

The filter bar allows you to quickly narrow the list by status. This is especially useful when reviewing:

  • Newly requested accounts
  • Locked accounts
  • Users needing password setup

Resetting a Password

If a user cannot access their account, admins can reset their password:

  1. Click the Reset PW button next to the user.
  2. The system will generate a temporary password or send a reset link (depending on your configuration).
  3. The user must set a new password on their next login.

Locking an Account

Admins can lock an account to temporarily prevent access:

  1. Click the Lock button next to the user.
  2. The user will no longer be able to log in.

This is useful for security concerns or inactive accounts.

Unlocking an Account

To restore access:

  1. Click the Unlock button.
  2. The user’s status returns to Active.

Viewing User Details

Some systems include a View Details button that shows:

  • Full profile information
  • Approval history
  • Account activity
  • Admin notes (if used)

Tips for Managing Users

  • Review new account requests regularly.
  • Use the lock feature for temporary access issues.
  • Reset passwords only when necessary for security.
  • Keep an eye on Pending Password users to ensure they complete setup.
